Welcome to Octtam (“App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). Your privacy matters. This policy explains how we handle your data. By using Octtam, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Permissions we ask for
We only use permissions for the features below. You can deny or revoke them in device settings.
Camera
- QR Scanner: scan codes in the foreground only.
Photos / library
- Photo Cleaner: view and organize on device.
- Saving QR images when you choose to save.
- Photo Cleaner does not upload your library to our servers.
Notifications
- Reminders for calendar, tasks, training nudges, and (if enabled) chat alerts.
Microphone
- Voice notes or audio in chat when you record — not used in the background without your action.
Contacts
- Optional: directory / “find friends” style flows. You can deny and still use the rest of the app.
Background audio
- Ambient sounds can play when the app is backgrounded or the screen is locked. No background recording.
2. Advertising (Google Mobile Ads)
We use Google Mobile Ads (banners and optional rewarded ads) to support the app.
- Google may use device identifiers, IP, and usage data to show and measure ads.
- That processing is governed by Google’s policies.
3. Information we collect
Account and profile
- Sign-in: provider (e.g. Google/Apple), provider ID, email.
- Profile fields you provide, such as name and phone.
Chat and messaging
- Messages go through Octtam chat services.
- A limited rolling window may be stored server-side for delivery and previews.
- Your device may keep local chat history/cache.
Media in chat
- Uploaded to our chat endpoints and delivered to participants.
Push notifications
- We may store a device push token on your profile for chat (and related) alerts.
- Delivery may use Expo Push and/or Firebase Cloud Messaging depending on platform/token.
Directory / contact match
- Phone/email lookup queries to Octtam APIs when you use discovery features.
Technical and security
- IP, request metadata, and logs for abuse prevention, rate limits, and troubleshooting.
4. On your device vs. online
- Local-first: notes, calendar/reminders, calculator, browser tabs/history, gym data, pins — mostly on device.
- Network: account, chat, directory, uploads, ads, and websites you open in the in-app browser.
- Photo Cleaner: on-device; we do not upload your photo library for that feature.
5. Data retention
- Local data stays until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall.
- Server-side account, chat, tokens, and related records may be kept while your account is active and as required for operations, security, or law.
- Server chat history is capped; older rows may be trimmed while local history can persist longer.
6. Children’s privacy
- Octtam is not directed at children under 13.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Security
- We use reasonable measures to protect data in transit and at rest.
- No method is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes
- We may update this policy; changes appear here and in app updates when applicable.
